INEED Motors is a micro DC worm gear motor manufacturer providing compact, quiet, right-angle (90°) geared motor solutions for OEM devices. Our worm gear motors are designed for high torque density at low speed, with optional anti-backdrive / self-locking performance depending on gearbox design and load conditions. We support fast customization—ratio selection, shaft design, encoder feedback, wiring/connector options—so you can validate prototypes and scale production with less risk.

Tip: Send your target RPM + load torque + duty cycle, we’ll recommend a ratio and share a torque–speed curve for your load condition.
A worm gear motor combines a DC motor with a worm gearbox. Inside the gearbox, a screw-like worm drives a wheel gear to create a high reduction ratio in a compact space. This converts the motor’s higher-speed rotation into lower output speed and higher output torque, and also creates a convenient 90° right-angle output.
Many worm gear designs can provide anti-backdrive behavior (often called self-locking). Whether it is truly self-locking depends on gear geometry, efficiency, lubrication and your load direction—so it should be validated for the real application.
When your application requires high torque, compact structure, and a right-angle layout—especially with holding/anti-backdrive needs—worm gearing is often the best choice.
A worm stage can deliver large reduction ratios without multiple gear stages, helping you get low output RPM and strong torque in a shorter assembly.
Compared with many other gear types, worm gearing can resist being driven backward by load forces (design-dependent). This is helpful in mechanisms that must hold position when power is off.
Worm gear tooth contact and material choices can support heavy loads for compact mechanisms, especially where peak torque events are expected.
The meshing behavior can be controlled for smooth motion, low vibration and low noise—ideal for household appliances, healthcare devices and smart products.

Struggling with motor selection and integration? We specialize in micro DC motors and custom gear motors to simplify design, manufacturing and delivery.
A worm gear motor is a DC motor coupled with a worm gearbox that increases torque and reduces speed in a compact design. It commonly provides a right-angle output and can be optimized for low noise and compact integration.
Common options include 6V, 12V and 24V DC. Other DC voltages can be supported depending on your project needs.
Typical trade-offs include lower efficiency than some gear types (due to sliding friction), heat generation under heavy duty cycles, and self-locking behavior that varies by design. Correct ratio selection and materials/lubrication help avoid issues.
Yes. We can provide datasheets, motor characteristic curves and 2D/3D drawings after confirming your voltage, load, target RPM and duty cycle.
Self-locking depends on gearbox geometry/efficiency, lubrication, and load direction. For critical holding needs, we recommend validating with your actual load conditions. Send your holding torque requirement and we’ll recommend a suitable design.
Backlash can be optimized by gear quality, assembly tolerance and design choices. Share your positioning requirement and allowable backlash, and we can propose options.
